Biography

Dr. Don McCulloch has worked in psychiatric hospitals, community mental health centers and a pain management clinic. He was a full time psychology intern at Jackson Memorial Hospital/University of Miami Medical Center. He was also the clinical director of a Rapha treatment center, a Christian-based inpatient psychiatric program in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. For several years he was in private practice with a group of Christian counselors in Pompano Beach, Florida. In 1991, he became licensed as a psychologist in the State of Florida. He subsequently developed a successful independent practice of psychology within a large suburban medical center. For the past 15 years he has additionally been doing marital counseling at the offices of Sheridan House Family Ministries in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

Dr. Don McCulloch left his hospital practice in 1999 to pursue his first love, teaching. He is now a full-time associate professor of psychology at Palm Beach Atlantic University. He teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in the general area of counseling (this includes regular offerings of abnormal psychology and personality theories). Along with student co-authors he conducted university-funded research on psycho-social variables and home educated students. That work was accepted for publication in the peer-reviewed online journal Academic Leadership. He is the co-author of a chapter in a professional work on the topic of behavioral medicine. He has also published entries in Baker’s Encyclopedia of Psychology, edited by David G. Benner.

Dr. Don McCulloch has been married for 21 years to Gwenn, a critical care nurse. They have four children ranging in age from eight to 20 who are home-schooled. Their family, including Gwenn’s parents, are active members of Rio Vista Community Church in Fort Lauderdale, Fl. The McCullochs are avid travelers, having been to Asia several times. Dr. McCulloch spent the spring of 2004 with his family and 22 college students living and teaching classes in London, England as part of a semester-abroad program.

Dr. Don McCulloch has spoken in churches, conferences and on a local Christian radio program regarding psychological and biblical topics.
